crisis (n.)
[krahy-sis]
1) a stage in a sequence of events at which the trend of all future events, especially for better or for worse, is determined; turning point
This book is full of crises, but the primary crisis is when the Monster awakens. When he wakes up, no one is there to greet him, since Dr. Frankenstein, his creator, was too busy crying and wetting his pants. He really had no choice but to leave the apartment, since no one would help him there. Over time he had become smarter, faster, and stronger. He had tried to be nice and gentle with others, but they were always afraid and disgusted of him because of his appearance. As a result, he becomes a major threat to the people, including Frankenstein and his family.
